It seems incredible now that this event went ahead on the 10 – 13 March, but it did and was hugely successful for us. We have a great stand in the shopping marquee and see lots of existing customers, plus a good number of new ones who like a change of scene in between the races to pick up a new belt colour or buckle style for summer. We have great neighbours Moloh, and are opposite Jonny Beardsall hats who provide us with wonderful entertainment over the 4 days with an endless stream of customers trying on his fantastic hats, and many buying too. Also the racing is televised and the general atmosphere is quite electric, with everyone out for a great day and some high quality racing.
This year it was the white leather belt in the ostrich print that was sought after as well as the animal belt buckles, which are always popular here. Then more of the navy ostrich leather and the diamante belt buckles that people were interested in.
It must be said that by the time we leave the racecourse, there are some stragglers from The Guinness Village who have possibly enjoyed their day a touch too much and are weaving down the road – I am not sure some get any further than the car park!
Will there be any more major sporting events this year now? Lets hope that the Virus is got under control and the British public can return to supporting these wonder full occasions.
